I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change

This performance celebrates the lifelong friendship and professional partnership of Noel Coward and Gertrude Lawrence.
‘Noel and Gertie’ first met at thirteen years of age. Gertie powdered her nose, Noel told some faintly dirty stories and he instantly became enamoured with her. Together they dominated both the West End and Broadway. Their opening scene from Private Lives, written by Coward for himself and Gertie in 1930, is said to be the second most famous balcony scene in history - after Romeo and Juliet,
The memory of Coward is kept alive through his songs and plays and his irrepressible razor-sharp wit. The programme will include songs: Some Day I’ll Find You, Mad Dogs And Englishmen, Mad About The Boy and scenes form plays including: Private Lives, Red Peppers (from Tonight at 8.30)
As Coward himself said “Wit ought to be a glorious treat, like caviar. Never spread it around like marmalade”
