Tony Norton (Belfast) studied piano, cello and conducting at Trinity College of Music London before turning to voice. He sang for a number of years in the choruses of Scottish Opera and Teatro Alla Scala Milano.
He made his debut as a soloist at La Scala in the opera Oberon. Since then Tony’s operatic and concert performances have taken him to opera houses and festivals throughout Europe and as far afield as Japan and the USA. At home in Ireland Tony has worked with Opera Ireland, Opera Theatre Company, Wexford Festival Opera, The Anna Livia International Opera Festival, The National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Lyric Opera, Co-Opera, The Opera Machine and has broadcast regularly for RTE Radio and Television.
Tony has earned a reputation as a fine interpreter of contemporary music and has performed in many world premieres both at home and abroad. In recital and on the concert platform he has received critical acclaim for his performances of works by Benjamin Britten and Michael Tippett.
As one of The Three Irish Tenors Tony continues to tour extensively throughout Ireland the United Kingdom and the USA.
